We have a wide variety of complementary courses that students can choose from. Each student is enrolled in two complementary courses. Students in French Immersion are automatically enrolled in French Language Arts and they are given priority placement for a single complementary course. Students have the opportunity to select new complementary courses for our Winter and Spring terms.
The complementary course selection process allows each student to rank the available courses. Pay careful attention to all of your choices because you may not be enrolled in your top selections. Student placement is based on a random order which changes for each term, increasing your chances of enrolling in the most popular courses. At the end of your selections, you will be given the option to exclude up to two courses that you do not want to be enrolled in next year.

Fees
While our school does not charge any general fees, most complementary courses require a small fee. Complementary course fees are payable in the first month of each new term.
Assessment
All elective courses at ELJHS are graded according to a letter scale:
“E” (Excellent) consistently applies required skills and concepts independently.
“P” (Proficient) frequently applies required skills and concepts independently.
“S” (Satisfactory) applies required skills and concepts with assistance.
“L” (Limited) inconsistently applies required skills and concepts.
